Tom Holland Says New Spider-Man: Brand New Day Suit Draws Inspiration from Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, Tom Holland revealed in a recent interview with Complex that Spider-Man’s new costume in Marvel and Sony’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day is inspired by the suits worn by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in their earlier trilogies.

Currently filming in the U.K., Holland said: “I like the idea that he’s trying to be the big brother, that he looks up to them, notices little details in their suits that he finds cool, and now he’s building his own suit—no longer just part of a bigger team.”

The cast includes Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Zendaya as MJ, Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink, Liza Colón-Zayas, Jon Bernthal as Punisher, Mark Ruffalo as Hulk, Michael Mando as Scorpion, Tramell Tillman, and Melanie Scrofano.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day will mark Holland’s fourth solo Spider-Man film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Destin Daniel Cretton, known for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, is directing, with a screenplay by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers.

Sony Pictures has scheduled the film for release on July 31, 2026.
